welcome to Protopia GROUP, a think tank RESEARCHING the best ideas for CATALYSING growth in the modern era.

Growth is SLOWING

Across the world, economic growth and innovation are grinding to a halt.

The world faces dreaded secular stagnation. Productivity growth is slowing. Across developed countries, fertility continues to decline; a population crisis lurks around the corner. We are innovating more slowly: major tech hubs are becoming less attractive, and ideas are getting harder to find. Grand architectural and infrastructural projects, crucial for long-run economic growth, are poorly executed and increasingly expensive. Our cities are congested and decaying. Governments are overridden with bureaucratic hassle and are losing public trust. Even optimism is declining: rates of depression in the U.S. have reached an all-time high.

But this doesn’t have to be the case. We can inject vitality and optimism into our economies with good ideas, sound policies, and effective implementation methods. Join us on our mission to find the best ideas for better innovation in the modern era.

Let’s speed it back up

Protopia Group is formed of young professionals, students, and early-career individuals based in London excited about the future and passionate about unlocking the world’s potential for growth.

We research, write, and contribute towards the ideation, development, and refinement of growth and innovation policy worldwide.

Our approach is multifaceted: we are social scientists informed by relevant theories and empirical evidence, practitioners interested in investigating the implementation of innovation policy in practice across differentiated contexts, and thinkers excited to delve into what a better world might look like.
